EMAIL FROM … MAINZ (LOUIS STIENS)

I am writing to you from Mainz, where Stephen Dellatre’s ballet company will perform their company premiere of my choreography MatchBox. Maybe some of you still remember this little work which I created for the dancers of the Stuttgart Ballet. The world premiere was at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2015 on the Court of the Porsche Arena and can still be watched on the internet. Back then I had the idea to send two ballerinas in the arena, surrounded by their male colleagues and team members. Their pointe shoes were ruined after each performance because of the sandy ground which is not ideal for dance – but now in Mainz this will hopefully not be the case. Still, the men dance in sports shoes and the ladies on pointe, but without the arena and the excitement of the tournament. I will now watch the last rehearsals with lights and costumes before I send those six adorable dancers from Mainz into their intimate “arena”.

As soon as I am back in Stuttgart, I will be dancing in Krabat, the mixed repertory evening SEDUCTION! and continuing to work on my second commission for the Stuttgart Ballet for the mixed repertory evening NIGHT PIECES. I hope you are all well and that you will be there for the premiere on March 24, 2017! Let us welcome spring with an open heart!

Greetings,

Dear Stuttgart Ballet and all of our friends!

After the great revival of Krabat I took a plane to London. I’m dancing Mary Skeaping’s Giselle here with English National Ballet. I had my first show on Wednesday and have another one on Sunday and after that I will already be back in Stuttgart for the premiere of SEDUCTION! :)

I am happy to say that my first show went very well and I’m enjoying the time here a lot with all the dancers and the staff of ENB and my great partner Cesar Corrales. Hope you’re all fine in Stuttgart, I can’t wait to see you soon!

Many kisses from London

Elisa

Dear Stuttgart Ballet fans,

at the moment I am in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico). I was invited by Christina Lyon, Artistic Director and founder of the prestigious Gala de Danza to choreograph a piece on four talented young dancers. Together we are having a great time creating something special for the closing of the Gala that will premiere in March. I will be here only few more days and then I will be back in my lovely home to continue creating Dark Glow for Stuttgart Ballet’s upcoming premiere SEDUCTION! on February 3, 2017. In the meantime I want to wish all of you from my heart a wonderful and happy new year. Let 2017 be a magical a peaceful year!

Yours
Kasia

EMAIL FROM … PARIS (FRIEDEMANN VOGEL)

Dear Friends,

at the moment I am in Paris where I have been working in the hallowed studios of the Paris Opera with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who has created a pas de deux for the Etoile Marie-Agnès Gillot and myself based on Stravinsky’s Firebrid. It is totally inspiring! Today we move to  the Fondation Louis Vuitton for our first rehearsal on stage. It will be exciting and interesting to see how dance incorporates itself into this spectacular museum. The premiere is tomorrow night. For everyone who wants to see it, arte will live stream the performance on Sunday, October 30th at 8:30 pm: http://concert.arte.tv/fr/quatre-ballets-russes-revisites-par-sidi-larbi-cherkaoui-et-lil-buck-la-fondation-louis-vuitton

Au revoir et à bientôt,

Dear Friends in Stuttgart!

Hello from New York City! Since the weekend I am here with Alina Cojocaru to rehearse for my premiere as Armand in Sir Frederic Ashton’s ballet  Marguerite and Armand. It is a wonderful story ballet in just one act, based on Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel The Lady of the Camellias. Ashton created this piece for the two ballet stars Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev and since then not many other dancers have danced it here, so it is a special honor to us to be dancing this famous choreography now.

There will be two performances tonight and tomorrow night at the New York City Center, as part of the Fall for Dance Festival. We are both excited and looking forward to this.

Love to Stuttgart, yours

Friedemann
