Kanako Oki and Friedemann Vogel

Greetings from Japan! I am very happy to be back in Tokyo, which feels so familiar yet remains fresh and exciting each time. This trip is made even more special by the presence of Sir Anthony Dowell, here to help me rehearse the role of Oberon in The Dream, which was created on him by Sir Frederick Ashton. A dream come true for me!

It is always a joy to work with Tokyo Ballet, and I look forward to the performances at Bunka Kaikan Theatre on Saturday 28th and Monday 30th April.

I am also thrilled that after dancing The Dream, I will come back twice more to Japan this year, to participate in the World Ballet Festival in August, and later in autumn with Stuttgart Ballet, to perform Onegin and Swan Lake.

All the best from Tokyo

Yours Friedemann

привет, Stuttgart!

Elisa and I are in St. Petersburg to take part in this year’s Dance Open Festival at the renowned Alexandrinsky Theatre. The 17th edition combines ballet classics from different eras with a special focus on the late 20th century as well as Marius Petipa’s 200. birthday. We brought our own Stuttgart classic: A pas de deux from Cranko’s The Taming of the Shrew.

See you!

Silingardi_Email aus NovaraHello Stuttgart Ballet friends,

On Saturday, 7th of April, I had the huge honor of being invited to perform at the10th year anniversary gala of Novara in Danza. It was a very memorable evening as at the end of the gala I was awarded with a very prestigious prize, Etolie di Domani. Having gone through the experience of the competition myself, it was extremely rewarding to return there as a professional dancer and to be awarded this prize. A huge thank you to Barbara Gatto, the organizer of the Gala and competition, for having me.

Roman Novitzky as Onegin and Maiko Nishino as Tatjana during rehearsal © Jörg Wiesner

Hello from Oslo!

Right now I am rehearsing for Onegin – I have performances on Friday and next Tuesday and I can’t wait to dance them. It has been great to be here in Oslo, I really enjoy it. They have a beautiful, modern theater and the company and people are very sweet, nice and friendly. I made a lot of new friends! :-) On the other side, I am staying here for quite a long time, so can’t wait to come back to Stuttgart to see my family – Miriam and Lucas (who turned one year yesterday) and also the company and the people and start to work on my piece for The Fab Five again. :-) :-)

See you all soon.
